Taking responsibility

I have recently been barracked for work that allegedly disappeared during the exhibition. The artist concerned never made any list of work on display, the work was not clearly marked with pricing and a lack of security was blamed.
However there was fully adequate security at all times, as approved and augmented by the gallery.
As security was blamed I can only suggest that it was not known when the work allegedly disappeared. It could have even disappeared when the artist was present in the gallery and therefore the loss would have been that artists responsibility.
May I remind all artists that the gallery clearly states in their terms and conditions on the website that they are not responsible for any theft or loss.
